I am so excited for the school year to begin! I hope this blog will be helpful for updates about what we are working on. I look forward to meeting all of you, and thought I would tell you a little bit about myself.
I am originally from Needham and currently live in South Boston. I attended Boston College and then Harvard University. Then, I moved to Ann Arbor, Michigan, and taught second grade while my husband attended business school. In 2014, I happily moved back to Boston and taught third grade in Wellesley. I am thrilled to be joining the third grade team and starting at Franklin!
Outside of work, I love reading, spending time outside, and traveling. This summer, I went to Ireland, Atlanta, Nantucket, and Cape Cod. I spent a lot of time with my new niece, Natalie, who is almost 5 months old. I also enjoyed exploring my new neighborhood and learning to cook -- I made a LOT of homemade ice cream this summer! I can't wait to hear all about your summer, hobbies, and interests.
Please let me know if you are a parent and did not receive my welcome e-mail (sent today, 8/31) so I can add you to the list! As a reminder, here are some things to bring on the first day of school:
- Favorite Book (from now or long ago!)
- Book you are currently reading
- Snack
- Two 1" Binders with pockets on inside cover
See you soon!
Best,
Mrs. Kalich
(Kay-litch, but I usually go by Mrs. K)
