Hello students and families!
Here is a look at our pre-vacation week!
Reading: Groups finished with their Wampanoag books and C-E-R reading responses. Students did an excellent job of echoing the question and making a claim, finding evidence in the text, and giving reasons that the evidence supports the claim.
Writing: We learned about different ways to start the chapters of our Informational Books, such as using a question, statement, dialogue, or onomatopoeia. We also saw examples of chapter endings that wrap up the topic. We will continue working on our informational pieces for 2 weeks after the break.
Math: Students did an excellent job showing what they know about perimeter. We practiced more with missing sides and being careful test-takers since in measurement the units are important. We discussed how different shapes can have the same perimeter and had a Math Talk about different approaches to drawing a yard with a 100-ft perimeter.
We also met with our buddies to make a Valentines Day craft, worked on a short answer packet about the Chinese New Year, and had a class meeting about taking care of our learning (and having more fun!).
Have a wonderful break!
-Ms. K
