Hi everyone,
I am so excited for the school year to begin! I hope this blog will be helpful for updates about what is happening in the classroom. I look forward to meeting all of you, and thought I would tell you a little bit about myself.
I am originally from Needham and attended Boston College (go Eagles!). I then decided to become a teacher, and attended graduate school at Harvard University. I have taught for 7 years in Needham, Ann Arbor (Michigan), Wellesley, and now am so happy to be returning to Franklin! I had a wonderful experience last year and really enjoy teaching 3rd grade.
Outside of work, I love reading, music, spending time outside, and traveling. This summer, I had a lot of fun with my son, Ryan, who just turned 6 months old. He likes the beach just as much as I do! We also did a LOT of packing, moving, and unpacking: I moved from an apartment in South Boston to a house in Westwood, AND from a small classroom to a larger one! I can't wait to hear all about your summer, hobbies, and interests.
Please let me know if you are a parent and did not receive my welcome e-mail (sent today, 8/29) so I can add you to the list! As a reminder, here are some things to bring on the first day of school:
We would also appreciate donations of tissues, wipes, and hand sanitizer - our full classroom wish list is here: https://amzn.com/w/363FSMKRQ8NR4
See you soon!
Best,
Mrs. Kalich
(Kay-litch, but I usually go by Mrs. K)
P.S. Don’t forget that you are welcome to meet me and visit your new classroom on Thursday, September 1st from 9:00-9:30 in the former music room. Also this year I will be offering Hopes and Goals mini-conferences for parents/guardians during the first few weeks of school. You will be sent a link via email for signing-up. I hope to see many of you then!
