THANK YOU for our awesome new books and supplies! We are so grateful and appreciate your donations, as well as everything you do throughout the school year to support our learning!
We've had a great short week before vacation. It has been a wonderful couple of months, and I look forward to more learning and growing together in 2016!
Reading: This week, we worked in our groups on taking notes on the Wampanoag Year. We used nonfiction text elements, such as headings, illustrations, and glossaries, to help us find the main idea and most important details. We also finished listening to Frindle by Andrew Clements.
Math: We continued to work on area and perimeter this week. We reviewed with M.A.T.H centers and some games. We played Scoot with our stuffed animals on Pajama Day. We also made our own Area Robots to practice finding the total square units.
Science: In science, every group presented their story and poster for "My Life as a Drip." Even groups who chose the same beginning or ending prompt had VERY different stories for their drop of water! Some of them started on mountains, while others began in puddles. They all traveled through the water cycle and experienced evaporation, precipitation, and condensation.
Writing: We completed a reflection about what is going well in third grade, what we are working on, and goals for 2016. We also continued working on our cursive. Students are making great progress, and some have moved on to uppercase letters! Today, we worked on stories about our Area Robots.
Ideas for Winter Break:
Happy Holidays!
