Dear families,
How was your week? I know ours was good. Here are some of the things we did this week:
Understanding Our Differences by Oden
One special activity we did was Understanding our Differences. This guy came in and he had hearing aids and he told us about his life. Also, we learned about a alarm clock that has a buzzer that goes underneath your pillow and wakes you up when you set it for.
Reading by Dennis and DeAnna
In reading, we read more of Matilda. We also are reading nonfiction. We worked on the elements of nonfiction, like pictures, table of contents, and headings.
Writing by Hannah
In writing, we are working on our personal narratives. A personal narrative is a true story that happened to you in a small amount of time. We learned how to make out story detailed by using our 5 senses. I am writing about the time I got stuck in the mud. We also had Author's Chair, which is when someone gets to share their personal narratives.
Math by Lia
In math, we are working on line plots. We also measured different things. We did a line plot quiz, and we worked on chrome books. It was all very fun!
Inclusive Schools Week
We launched our Inclusive Schools Week with an All School Meeting on Monday. We watched a video about what inclusion means. We read a book called It's Okay to be Different. We also made Quilt Squares that explain what inclusion means to us, and how we appreciate one another's differences.
Technology
Ms. Busa came to our classroom to teach us to use kind words when texting or online. We discussed how Words Matter, and the effect our words have on other people when we are in front of them or in front of a screen. We did a fun activity on a "Padlet" to explain what we learned about kindness and acceptable use of devices. Here is a link to our lesson:
