Hi everyone,
I hope you all had a fun and productive week! The kids seemed to have a great time dressing up during "Spirit Week." ;-)
This week we completed our Geometry unit with a mini-assessment. Overall the kids felt confident in all they learned and we look forward to moving on to fractions next week.
Everyone was busy working in groups this week, whether it was doing morning work by brainstorming words in Bubble Maps; categorizing characteristics of shapes; and getting into our Book Club groups! Two groups completed their books and will be moving on to another soon. Everyone is busy with "Book Talk" and reading responses as well.
We also had a small introduction into Massachusetts geography. We completed a "K-W-L Chart" (What I Know, What I Want to Know, What I Learned) and skimmed the surface of fun facts. We'll dive deeper into more next week.
During writing, we are all in the conferring stage. Some are doing peer-editing, while others are working with me, Ms. G, and Ms. Jones using a "Did I Do It Like A Third Grade" checklist for self-assessment. We'll be ready for you all to join us the morning of the 10th for a small publishing showcase!
Wishing you all a wonderful weekend and an extra special birthday "shout out" to Thiago and Brenden! And a special "thank you" to Chiara and Giulia for making those delicious cupcakes that everyone enjoyed and complimented!
Kind regards,
Ms. Frusciante
