It's been another short and busy week in room 48! It was fun to see some of you at the school picnic. We continued working on Hopes and Goals this week, and created Quilt Squares to display our goals. We also enjoyed picture day.
Math - We completed a Numbers Hunt in our classroom, and found different measurements, amounts, and other interesting numbers all around us. We also practiced math games like Guess My Number and Addition Top-It. Today, we reviewed telling time, and made clocks to help us tell time.
Reading - We completely opened our Classroom Library this week! We learned about checking out books, keeping the library organized, and picking Just-Right books. We reviewed expectations for independent reading and partner reading. We also opened our Listening Center, where we can listen to books on CD. Finally, we learned about keeping a balanced reading "diet" that incorporates all different genres of books.
*We are lucky to have received MORE new books, if anyone has plastic bins/containers around the size of a shoebox to donate, we can expand our library even more!*
Writing - We worked on book reports about some of our favorite books. We also brainstormed and developed our Classroom Rules, which will help us to achieve our hopes and goals for the school year.
Have a wonderful weekend!
